While in high school, I came across a book titled “Think and Grow Rich,” this being the first book that showed me the power of using your mind in order to draw what you want to you. Fast forward about a decade, in the year 2006, the movie, “The Secret,” revealed to the great majority of the world the existence of this universal law. This subject catapulted many heated debates and forum discussions all over the Internet. People seem to be polarized to the subject. It’s either that you agree with it and believe it wholeheartedly; or you write it off as voodoo, new age, mystical nonsense. As you analyze each and every word of this document you will shortly feel a sense of calmness as you begin to learn that the law of attraction isn’t mystical at all. In fact, it’s very practical and based on common sense.
To put it simply, whatever you focus your mind on will appear into your reality. Studies found that your subconscious mind takes everything you hear, see, feel, touch, and taste. Our conscious minds would be driven to madness if we focused on everything at once. So in order to protect our minds from going insane, our conscious minds filter in what we focus on and filter out the rest.
Let me illustrate this further with this well-known example. Ever gone car shopping? If so, you’ve probably noticed the car that you’re shopping for start to appear everywhere. Let’s say you’re in the market for current model BMW. I’d be willing to bet that you would start seeing current model BMWs more often. This isn’t because more people started buying BMWs and suddenly start to drive them. It’s always there, but your mind just filtered them out. You just went looking for them before, so you didn’t see them.
Many law of attraction practitioners fail to incorporate action into the process of getting what they want. Many naysayers find merit in saying that it doesn’t work. If you believe that you can sit on the couch and visualize your way into lots of money, a nice car, and a nice house; you will find disappointment. Many experts acknowledge the fact that you need to take action in order to receive what you want. Here’s the catch… The action you take has to be “inspired” or “intuitive.” When you correctly focus on what you want you will feel your intuition pushing you to do certain things. You may not know why these particular things will get you closer to your goal; you will just feel that it’s the right thing to do. This is your subconscious mind or “Infinite Intelligence” telling you what to do. And as long as you listen to it and trust it fully, it will never steer you wrong.
On the other hand; taking uninspired action, without the benefit of intuition guiding you, could lead to a feeling of swimming upstream. You may get to where you want to go eventually, but the journey will probably be filled with hardship and uncertainty.
You also need to know exactly what you want in order for it to work. You can’t just wish for more money in order to attract more money into your life. You must be clear and detailed about your goal or desire. If you want more money it’s better to attract what you intend to do with the money, or what the money can buy you. Also, just stating the amount of money you wish to acquire works better than just saying, “I want more money.”
Belief is also a fundamental part of the process. You can’t just “try” the law of attraction in order to “see how it goes.” That’s why you can never make someone else believe that the law of attraction works, if they already written it off. The fact that nonbelievers can find it true that “this stuff” doesn’t work at all, translates to just more proof that it actually does work. Their belief that it’s all based on false information makes it true in their reality. The only reality that you can change is yours.
Once again, the law of attraction isn’t based on mystical, new age, ideas. It’s just based on how the human mind evolved to work. Your perception becomes the driving force on what you see and manifest into your life. By nature, human beings evolved as goal oriented creatures. Our minds have been built upon this premise. We evolved this way to climb to the top of the food chain. Think of the law of attraction’s methods and teachings as ways to add laser precision to what our minds already evolved to excel at.
